The first few weeks? Make friends with the other program students. They'll serve as connections later, as well as a friendly face on the streets or in the program office.
And say hello to people in the hallways of the dorms. They might say hi back, and that might lead to friendship.
Go WAY out of your way to be friendly and outgoing.
We are the UMich students who are planning on studying in Aix next fall, are currently in Aix, or have returned from Aix. Students who are leaving this fall will ask questions to those who are currently in Aix and to those who have returned!
